HONG KONG More than a third of youngsters in Hong Kong believe money can buy happiness, a survey published recently has found.
Sixteen percent of the nine to 15 year-olds questioned said they believed money was more important than anything else in life, and 25 percent said they would be prepared to do anything if it was highly profitable.
Thirty-five percent believed money brought happiness and 22 percent thought a lack of money meant a lack of happiness and well-being.
Only 5.5 percent of primary school children and 2.2 percent of secondary school pupils said they would give any extra money they had to charity.
Almost 1,300 students were questioned for the survey by the Hong Kong city university's social studies department.
